The drawing represents a fantasy compilation performed in the style of steampunk and based on the true architecture of the town of Noginsk, Moscow region (from 1781 up to 1930, Bogorodsk). The composition comprises the main buildings of the 19th century up to the beginning of the 20th century: the Central Department Store, the Local Museum, Moscow Hotel, the Womens Gymnasium (built in 1908 by A.V.Kuznetsov), Epiphany Cathedral, houses of tradesmen, the distillery and some factory buildings. Apart stands an airship based on the image of the house from Tolstovskaya street and some wood-carved window surrounds. The Klyazma river represents a canal that is crossed by escalator-shaped bridges. A monorail and a tube with a sphere-wheeled train that connected Noginsk and Moscow stretch along the canal (its prototype was tested in Noginsk in the 1930-s). The drawing is another part in the "Russian Steampunk" series. Nowadays a lot of cities including Noginsk are losing their authentic style and character together with some historical buildings. When architecture physically disappears, it becomes a part of immaterial word, it transforms into a legend or a myth and at the same time it gains a new life in the art and culture. This alternative reality brings new perspectives of development and gives an opportunity to observe future through the present and the past and build new relationships with architecture, tradition and culture.
